So, Grade-A hides command a higher price because only a very small percentage of hides of all the hides produced are able to meet a very defined set of specifications or standards —i.e., free from major blemishes, requiring minimal corrections and waste. This selective grading process ensures that only the finest, most consistent hides make it to the top, offering superior workability, durability, and a flawless finish that justifies the investment. Lower grade hides are sold at a lower price point where finish quality is not the main focus.  They are generally sold as utility grade leather for other specific uses.
