Meet Deborah Davis:
Deborah Davis is the founder at Glove and Wyre. She enjoys life to the fullest and makes the most out of whatever crosses her path. In 2015 she started Glover and Wyre bespoke leather goods. Simple, clean designs are what Deborah prefers; however, the workings behind her simple designs are anything but simple. It requires intricacy and nimbleness and particular attention to detail and quality. She will tell you that creating a piece using superior materials “is like building a house knowing that it will be here long after I am gone.”
Her Experience with THOL Leathers:
Working with THOL’S Chèvre leather was a joy. Very high quality and has a smooth finish. The color was hard to come by. It was exactly what my client needed. So, now these passport wallets are on their way to Antigua.
Deborah’s Life Journey:
Deborah was born on the Caribbean Island of Antigua and moved to the United States in 1994 and settled in Atlanta in 1996. Did you know that after a stint as a Tennis Pro at a 5-Star Resort and a stint in retail in her hometown of Antigua, she pursued a career in Professional Golf. She moved to Atlanta, GA to focus on her golf career. That led her to the LPGA Futures Tour, where she became a Golf Professional. It takes skill, discipline and keen motivation to achieve such career heights. Deborah has spent all her life using her hands; from tennis to golf to fixing anything that she broke. Her transition to leather work, therefore, has been a natural, seamless progression to her personal, soulful, creative side. She says that “this journey has been my most fulfilling so far”. The life lessons taught by her family, who raised her, instilled in her integrity, and honesty. The inspiration for Deborah’s designs emerges from a deep and soulful place. Her creativity is fueled by warm, precious, childhood memories of the simplicity of Island life. As such, she personalizes her work by naming several of her pieces for close family members.
About Glover and Wyre:
Glover and Wyre produces from a small design studio in Covington, Georgia. Deborah knows that it is important to connect with her customers and supporters, and a family-like connection is really what she feels when working with her hands, creating a product that hopefully also connects with their souls. A portion of Glover and Wyre’s annual sales is donated to a non-profit organization called Inspiring Greatness; a Golf program focused on teaching young girls how to use STEM with golf. Their philanthropy to this organization is born out of Deborah’s dream to see more young girls take that same walk she did as a Professional Golfer who worked in nontraditional careers.
As Glover and Wyre strives to become even better each day, there will be new items, changes, and events. Deborah invites you to stay engaged with her on social media: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, email registration, or even send them a note to inspire them.
